After two months of long and tiresome wait, it was finally time for all of us to go for some outing. Our group selected many alternative places; however the whole group was finally agreed on this beautiful place called MURUD. For those who have not heard of this place before, it is a small village, very famous for its beautiful coastal line and beaches, 165 km away from Mumbai on the lush green western coast of Maharashtra (India).

As per the schedule we all reached at Plaza Cinema near DADAR railway station (very famous railway station of central Mumbai which is link the central hub station) the place where we all were asked to reach for pick-up, as usual bus driver was on IST (not Indian Standard Time but was late). Lucking after about an hour’s delay our journey to the road to heaven started from Dadar and everyone took the sigh of relief. Suddenly the whole atmosphere in the bus became very cheerful and anyone could easily see the happiness in the eyes of us. We took the eastern express highway or Mumbai-Pune Highway (best route if you are starting your journey from central suburbs of Mumbai).

Below is Dadar-Murud roadmap for all globe trekkers who likes to chill out at beach.

Our bus was riding at a speed of more than 100 kmph at Kochi - Panavel Rd/NH 17, we all could feel the thrill of the speed. Climate was very beautiful, cool wind was blowing our minds and hairs. In all fun and frolic which was going around the bus, we didn’t realized when we reached our final destination Murud (Murud Jannira). At reaching the venue we were welcomed by beautiful staff of Golden Swan Beach Resort with mouth watering local drink and our baggage was shifted to our hotel rooms. Rooms were very clean and nicely decorated keeping in mind the scenic beauty of the place. We were very lucky that our room was adjacent to the beautiful beach and we all could see the beautiful view of the beach from our window. 3 ½ hours journey made us so exhausted that we all were very hungry, any of us could fall down to the floor at any time due to the hunger.

Lovely hotel staffs very quickly released what we all were going through and arranged for buffet lunch. Lunch was followed by a little nap after that we had to go for Janjira fort visit.

Visit to Murud Janjira (Janjira which means Fort in water in English) is one of the beaufiful and most memorable experience I have ever had. Since the fort is covered with water from all its sides there is no option to reach this magnificent fort other than local hand made boats which are available at the Rajapuri ports near rajapuri village. After 15-20 minutes of bargaining our boatman finally settled for Rs 800 ( around 18-19 USD) to ferry all of us to fort along with the special services of his guide who showed us the fort and gave us many information about the fort. We could not believe him when he showed us a sweet water lake inside the fort which is covered from all sides in salt water. As per him Siddhi Johar built the fort in 1495 with stones. Fort was built in such a way that it was very difficult for any enemy army to attack on this fort. Fort still has two canons which has the range of 18 Km, Kalal Bangri is one of them. We all became so much engrossed in listening to his words that we didn’t realize when our clock passed 6.15 pm mark and it was time for us to leave for our hotel rooms.

Trust me it's really great place to unwind... Not very far away from Mumbai it takes only 2 1/2 to 3 hour to reach this beautiful place.. If you are planning to visit the place, visit during Nov to Jan (best time to visit the place). Thank you. I'll try to write more about our lovely city Mumbai.

Thanks again
